The Surinaams Olympisch Comité (SOC) is the National Olympic Committee recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). We represent Suriname within the Olympic Movement, enter Surinamese athletes and teams into the Olympic Games and regional multi-sport Games, and work with our affiliated federations to develop sport nationwide — from grassroots participation to elite performance.

Suriname's only Olympic medallist — gold in the 100m butterfly at Seoul 1988 and bronze in the same event at Barcelona 1992. Nesty remains a national hero, honoured with commemorative stamps and a stadium bearing his name. He is now head swimming coach at the University of Florida and led the USA men's team at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
